​How Kinesiology Tape Works

Kinesiology tape is not like the elastic band you would wrap around a sprain for protection. Such traditional methods actually prevent blood circulation and immobilize the muscle which can even hinder the body's healing process. (1)

This is different from how kinesiology tape works. It does not contain any medication but works by gently lifting the skin which helps open up the muscles and allows full movement. It is applied on top of the injured area to help stabilize it. When you move, the skin and tissue also move creating a space between the tissue and skin. ​How to Apply Kinesiology Tape
